OffRamp ("OffRamp," "we," "us," or "our") is a weight-maintenance companion app for people who have used, or are coming off, a GLP-1 medication. This policy explains exactly what the OffRamp iOS app handles, what leaves your device, and what choices you have.
OffRamp is built to be local-first. The app works without an account, without a login, and without us building a profile about you. The large majority of your data never leaves your device. Every case where something is sent off the device is listed in Section 3.
OffRamp does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or dosing guidance. Always follow your prescriber's plan for starting, changing, or stopping any medication.
1. No account, no sign-in
OffRamp does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information to use the app. We do not assign you a user identity on our servers, and we do not track you across apps, websites, or devices.
2. Information stored on your device
Everything you enter into OffRamp is stored locally on your device, using Drift and Hive on-device storage. It is not uploaded to us and is not stored on our servers. It includes:
- Body metrics. Weight check-ins, height, age range, and sex, used only to calculate a personalized daily protein floor. OffRamp never sets calorie targets.
- Nutrition logs. Protein and meals you log, including foods added by photo, text search, or barcode.
- Medication context. The medication name you optionally pick from a list, to label your maintenance phase, and your check-in history. OffRamp does not record, suggest, or store doses or taper schedules.
- Reminders and preferences. Reminder times, weigh-in day, units (lb or kg), and app settings.
Because this data lives on your device, deleting the app deletes it. We cannot recover it for you.
Health data
Body weight, body metrics, and medication labels are sensitive health-related information. OffRamp uses them only to provide the app's features to you, on your device. We do not sell them, we do not use them for advertising, and we do not share them for advertising or marketing.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
OffRamp can connect to Apple Health, and only if you turn it on and grant permission in the iOS prompt. When enabled, OffRamp reads and writes exactly two data types:
- Body Mass (weight), so weigh-ins recorded elsewhere appear in your trend, and weigh-ins you log in OffRamp stay with your other health apps.
- Dietary Protein, so protein logged in either place stays in sync.
This exchange happens entirely on your device, between OffRamp and Apple Health. Health data obtained through HealthKit is never sent to our servers, never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold or shared with data brokers, in line with Apple's HealthKit requirements. You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Settings app, under Health, then Data Access & Devices.
3. Information sent off your device, and why
To provide specific features you choose to use, a limited amount of data goes to the third-party services below. Most requests are routed through our own proxy server on Cloudflare, so API credentials are never embedded in the app. One (OpenFoodFacts) is an open service we call directly and that needs no credentials. None of these requests are used to build an advertising or tracking profile of you.
a. Meal photo analysis, Groq
When you scan a meal with the camera or photo library, the image you choose is sent to Groq's vision model to estimate the meal's protein content. It is sent only to perform that analysis and return a result to your device. We do not attach your identity to the request, because we do not have one.
b. Food search and barcode lookup, FatSecret
When you search for a food by name or scan a barcode, the search term or barcode number goes to the FatSecret Platform API to return matching food and nutrition data. Results are cached on your device so repeat lookups need no further request. Nutrition data shown in OffRamp is "Powered by fatsecret Platform API". FatSecret's own terms and privacy policy apply to that data: FatSecret Terms and FatSecret Privacy.
To conserve usage, OffRamp checks a bundled list of common foods and its on-device cache first, and contacts FatSecret only on a genuine miss.
c. Barcode product names, OpenFoodFacts
If a scanned barcode is not found in FatSecret, OffRamp sends the barcode number to the OpenFoodFacts open database to look up the product name, then uses that name to find protein data. This is the only off-device request not routed through our proxy, because OpenFoodFacts is a free, open service requiring no credentials. Only the barcode number is sent. See the OpenFoodFacts privacy policy.
d. Purchases and subscriptions, RevenueCat and Apple
OffRamp offers optional in-app purchases, a subscription and a lifetime option. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store; we never see or receive your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements, meaning whether you have unlocked Pro. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous app user ID that is not linked to your name or contact details. See the Apple privacy policy and the RevenueCat privacy policy.
e. Optional encrypted backup
If you choose to back up your data, OffRamp produces an encrypted backup file that you control and can restore on your device. You decide where that file goes. OffRamp does not run a cloud sync service and does not upload your data to our servers.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not include third-party advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not send Apple Health data off your device.
- We do not provide open-ended AI chat, medical advice, or dosing guidance.
5. Permissions we request
- Camera. To photograph a meal so its protein content can be estimated.
- Photo Library. To let you pick an existing photo for the same purpose.
- Notifications. To send the reminders you set up. We ask for notification permission only after you choose a reminder time, and reminders are generated locally on your device.
- Apple Health. Optional, requested only if you turn on Health sync, and limited to Body Mass and Dietary Protein.
You can change or revoke any of these at any time in the iOS Settings app.
6. Data retention and deletion
Because OffRamp stores your data on your device, you control retention:
- Delete individual entries inside the app.
- Use the app's reset option to clear your data.
- Delete the OffRamp app to remove all of its on-device data.
We do not retain copies of your on-device health data, because we never receive it. Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained under their own policies and as required for tax, accounting, and fraud prevention.
7. Children's privacy
OffRamp is not directed to children. It is intended for adults managing their own weight maintenance and is rated accordingly. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us and we will help address it.
8. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and others)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because OffRamp keeps your data on your device and maintains no accounts or server-side profiles, you can exercise most of these rights directly: your data is visible in the app and is deleted when you delete it or the app.
We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. For any request relating to data processed by our third-party providers, or to ask about your rights, contact us using the details in Section 11.
9. International users
OffRamp is operated from the United States. When you use a feature that contacts a third-party service (Section 3), that request may be processed in the United States or other countries where those providers operate, under their own privacy policies and safeguards.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this URL. Material changes are reflected in the app where appropriate. Continued use of OffRamp after an update means you accept the revised policy.
